Well, here it is the beginning of the end...or is it?

Could Days Of Our Lives be next?  I wonder.  I hope not, but if GL has been canked then I don't see it lasting much longer for DOOL, especially after they have gotten rid of BB/MM ( Shawn/Belle), DH/DH (John/Marlena), SN/MBE (Patch/Kayla), TP/?aaahhh I forgot her name! (Tony/Anna).  Whose next?  Let's hope a cable network like SOAPnet picks up GL and keeps the 72 year old Soap Opera going for another 72 years!  I for one wouldn't mind if all the soaps ended up on cable because then they could be a little more daring, steamy and push the edge with story lines that match the reality of the "real" world.  Also, I'd be able to watch them all since I am one of those working women mentioned in the article.  JMO!

I've been thinking the same thing about Days being next. I heard GL would get on another network though so there could still be life on other networks. NBC is hurting some with budgets I heard and might cancel some night time shows that aren't getting too bad a ratings. Seems odd to me to cancel some doing ok or good. I hope Days escapes trouble but it is worrisome. If GL goes and then Days, not many soaps left. Y&R is number one and I wonder if it is even safe anymore. I hate to lose our soaps and get just reality tv in the daytime or talk shows. yuck on that.

I think it's raised the ratings up and think they plan to start new stuff in Oct. With Crystal Chapel returning and Vivian, I think something new is getting started. Sounds like it's safe and think I read somewhere they got an extension. I don't know that for certain though. It was just hopeful what I read like it had more time.

They did get an extension awhile ago, but only through to Sep. 2010/2011 I think.  After that, unless DOOL surpasses or ties Y&R for the #1 spot or at least comes in 2nd I just don't see NBC going past the extension.  I HOPE that I am completely wrong in this opinion, but I also don't want to get false hope.  I have to admit that I am a little excited about CC's return as Carly and I can see her playing into the Bo/Hope troubles storyline and in my opinion Carly is more of a threat than Billie EVER was.  At the same time, with all these former characters returning I would hate to see DOOL take too many steps backwards concerning story lines.  Don't get me wrong, I loved most of the stories back in the mid to late eighties and early '90's, in fact DOOL was the #1 Soap back in the '80s, but I want better stories this time around.  I don't want anymore "possession" or "dual/triple character" stories.  It's been done...and done.  I want stories that involve the characters of Salem on a daily basis and I want stories that keep them at home not being stranded on anymore islands, at least for a year or two.  A Victor/Stefano battle would be worth watching or a Vivian/Kate battle royale, now THAT would be something!  I've got lots of ideas, but since I'm nobody my opinions don't matter to TPTB, especially the current PTB!

None are safe...  I talked to an Actor that has been in DAYTIME for YEARS..  He told me that soon it would get to the point of all of them going off the air... and yes that is sad!!

Well, now that ATWT is on it's way out and AMC has moved from one coast to the other makes the ticking clock on the other soaps seem a little more louder than before.  I still believe that they need to make the move to cable, i.e. SOAPnet which would allow them to push the envelope a little more and also allow all those working women who record their shows to see them first time up.  JMHO!
